The first results issued by the Supreme Electoral Tribunal of El Salvador on the ongoing presidential election point towards Salvador Sanchez Ceren as the winner, who is from the Farabundo Martà National Liberation Front (FMLN) and has until now attained 49.12% of the vote.
His closest opponent, Norman Quijano, from the right party ARENA, currently stands at 38.92%.
