Some 5,000 people marched in a peaceful protest against the Hamburg-police-enforced 'danger zones' on Saturday.
The danger zones were established following violent clashes between police and protesters on December 21, sparked by the forceful eviction of refugees from the Rota Flora cultural centre. Anyone wishing to enter 'danger' areas such as Altona, St. Pauli and Sternschanze could be randomly stopped and searched by police, as well as be issued a ban from entering the area.
Ten days of protests gave way to the danger-zones being lifted Monday 12. However, protesters continue to rally for the protection of public space and refugee rights.
